MGS4 GA-KO Alarm Clock

If you haven’t been able to tell by now, I’m a big freaking nerd.  Nothing gets my nerd juices flowing quite like limited edition video game items from Japan.  Behold my recent purchase….

Your probably thinking to yourself, why the hell did Schnuth buy himself a goofy yellow ducky clock?  Let me explain.  In the recent Playstation 3 game Metal Gear Solid 4, this little duck shows up a few times.  The character Otacon’s niece Sunny uses this cute little gizmo as an egg timer.  The video sequences with Sunny are usually kinda cute and help break up the intensity between acts.  In Japan, where all things cute are king, MGS4 publisher Konami decided to sell only 2,000 of these on their Japanese website.

See I’m a huge fan of the Metal Gear Solid games and I really enjoyed the new one.  Combine that with a limited edition item that will probably go up in value, and now I have a yellow ducky sitting on my desk.  A duck that shakes it head back and forth and makes noise when the alarm goes off.  Yep, I’m a huge nerd.

I got mine from National Console Support, one of my favorite game importers.  They are expecting one more shipment, so if you want one now is the time.  For those of you still scratching your heads (or just want to see the duck in action) check out this video.  It shows one of the cut-scenes featuring our friend GA-KO and then shows the real clock’s alarm going off.

Apparently in Japan ducks say ga-ga and not quack-quack.  Who knew?  Something to keep in mind if you plan on talking to any ducks when you visit Japan.
